St George is a small yet growing town in southern Utah close to the Nevada border and also the Arizona border. This area is know as the Utah-Nevada-Arizona tri state junction area. The neighboring Nevada town is called Mesquite, which is also a small yet growing town as the area becomes more popular. Located only 120 miles from Vegas and 300 miles from Salt Lake City, St George is a small town not to far from two major cities. St George is known for its beauty and natural environment and its central location to the National and State Parks of Utah.

St George has been named one of the fastest growing areas in the nation with  people moving to St George it has added over 12,000 new residents in 2016-2017 to just the metro area of  St. George. Business are coming in and more local business are popping up to cater to the rapid growth of the area. New homes and apartment complexes are being built which still seems to not be fast enough to keep up with the demand of housing needed in St George. New construction and home remodeling to keep the older exsisting homes livable and up to date. Older homes are having garages added on and garage door added onto the car ports that are becoming enclosed garages. There is so much change coming to the small community of st George and more and more people are moving in.
With all the growth and development in St George there is more and more people flying into the city and more people that are needing the use of flights to travel with their families or to travel for business. In the 1950s the small airport in St George was locates at the top of a mesa and was serviced by the Bonanza airlines. The flight stopped at Cedar City then Provo and then Salt Lake City. There was also a flight to Phoenix that stopped first at Prescott to drop of and pick up some passengers. SkyWest airlines then started its company in the EMB 120 aircraft also known as the Brasilia or the BRO.  They started a direct flight from St George Utah to Salt Lake City Utah. With St George growing there was a demand for a larger aircraft the t would carry more people however the short runway that could not be expanded at the top of the mesa was not capable to land larger aircrafts. In 2008 they broke ground for the new airport in St George and in Jan 2011 the new airport just 5 miles outside of St George was built and is capable of larger aircrafts. Operated by the regional airline skywest there are now more airlines and more destinations for the people of St George and it Guests. American Eagle offers service to Phoenix, Delta Connection Offers service to Salt lake City and United Express offers service to Denver and Los Angeles with a New airline Allegiant Air coming in November of 2018 to offer a flight to the Phoenix- Mesa Airport. Who know as the city grows just how many more flight options they may have for the city.

St George and Washington County is home to the Santa Clara Volcano. The date of its last eruption is unknown however you can see the lava and even better when it did erupt there was air trapped down under all the lava and as it hardened the air bubble came to the surface leaving the Snow canyon Lava Tube Caves. This is a fun exploration that is great for most ages and there are a few places that you might want to make sure you are with a friend so you can help each other up and down a few of the tricky spaces. All though Snow Canyon there are a lot of different hikes and great exploring from easy to difficult. St George and the entire area of Southern Utah has so many different wonderful sites to see hikes to kike and so many natural beauties.
St George is a great place not to just live but raise a family in 2016 it was even voted number seven in the nation for best places to raise a family. Some of the highlights are the %90.3 graduation rate of high school students and over 14 beautiful parks through out St George. With young families moving in and more local businesses being built it is a great place to really live out the American dream. Not to mention the warmer winters in St George with the lower elevation it gets a lot less snow than its neighbor Cedar City Utah. There are so many wonderful things to do and experience year around making St George Utah a wonderful place to live and raise a family.
